My Approach
My philosophy is to eat simple. It’s okay to go to bed hungry. When I eat, make something delicious and satisfying. When I work, I like to grind for hours without interruptions or distractions. Knowing I don’t need to take a break for lunch or dinner is enlightening. I can eat when I’m done. Some days I need a lot of food, some days I don’t. Until I get to a healthy weight, I should not be eating junk foods, or desserts. Indulgent foods can be things like fresh berries, or a thick juicy steak. Cheat days are not for me. Do drug addicts have cheat days? Hell no. It leads to a relapse that they may never recover from.
My journey to becoming a healthier person is something distinct and interesting that sets it apart from others who have had success losing weight. Today I feel healthy and strong. I have energy and I’m motivated to keep going. I hope I can inspire others into changing for the better.
A Long Story
Every accomplishment has a beginning, and this is where i talk about mine. I was diagnosed with a mold allergy at 35 years old. I was told to give up coffee, chocolate, fresh fruit and vegetables, and more. It was quite a shock and I never properly carried out an elimination diet. I kept removing things from my diet as time went on and I was still having issues.
The concept of fasting intrigued me. I felt like it could be a system reset on my body. Keeping my blood sugar low meant I never had intense hunger pains. Finally i saw an opportunity to avoid all the foods triggering my allergies. I loved the feeling of being able to breathe easily through my nose. After a fast I’d introduce one food at a time and i was able to recognize the safe foods.
Since I was a teenager I’d noticed negative side effects from eating certain foods. First it was toast before school – it made me extremely sleepy. When I was 21 I started noticing horrible gastrointestinal problems after eating dairy. I tried being Vegan for six months, but I felt awful and it was too expensive to keep it up.
By my late 20’s I was regularly avoiding bread, and pasta. I also phased out beer. Instead I drank mostly clear liquors. Later I stopped drinking wine. Then I went non-dairy. I tried soy milk for a year, then almond milk, then coconut milk. eventually I stopped bothering with milk completely.
Even now, after typing up these details, I feel like a crazy person. It has been 20 years of feeling like all the foods the world is telling me to eat make me feel awful, tired, and cause weight gain. So I stopped letting the world dictate how I should live, and focused on what works for me.
Meet my Team
My secret to success is that I started with a plan. I talked to my doctor. I had tests done to confirm obesity was my only health issue. I did lots of research on Water Fasting, Intermittent Fasting, and Ketogenic diets. I talked to a counsellor about my struggles. These are some of the people who helped make my journey a success. There is a philosophy behind my achievements. I discovered I do not need to eat 3 meals a day. I do not need to eat carbohydrates. I feel great eating mostly meat, once a day. I don’t believe my way is the best way for everyone. We all have different needs. It’s a human thing.
